October 9 cont. and 10
Santorini is awesome! At first glance not every place is exactly like the pictures. Only two towns on the island look like the post cards, but those towns are amazing. First of all we are in a hotel in Kamari which is a two minute walk away from both a cute town and black sand beach. Right when we arrived at the hotel a few of us went to the beach. And on our way down I found the scuba dive center and they said we can do a shipwreck and cave dive if the weather permits us to! After having dinner, Dallen and I went on one of our adventure walks which we hadn’t done in a while. I love these walks because I get to know the town and find cool places to go.
Today we woke up and had the usual breakfast and metaphysical. Then we drove to Fira to go to two museums, which were full of artifacts from as far back as 20th century B.C. I touched a piece of art that was over 4,000 years old! After meseums we got to explore Fira. I love this little town. Although it is extrememly touristy, it is just like the pictures on the post cards and so romantic. It is definitely a city to visit with a special someone. While walking around Casey, Alaina and I found this little place that has fish that “kiss” your feet. For 15 euros we sat in a chair and dipped our feet in water full of suckerfish, which supposedly take off the dead skin. It tickled at first and was definitely a fun experience. I feel that a business so unique as this one would flourish in Laguna Beach.
We headed back to the hotel to have a belated Wednesday night service lead by Alaina on gratitude, and I shared a little testimony about getting locked out of the hotel the night before. Then a starving group of kids all went to a restaurant where we got free beverages, dessert, and 15% off of our entire meal. We also danced which turned out to look a lot like a sideways hand holding congo line. Dinner was followed by two games of mafia. Now it is time for bed as I will be getting up early to run on the beach during sunrise.
