Today
was so amazing. A group of girls woke up to run and watch the sunrise. It was
absolutely gorgeous. We ran back for breakfast to be followed by metaphysical.
After, we packed our bags and headed to Fira where we walked down from the
clifftop to the shore and boarded a pirate ship which took us to the Caldera
which is an active volcano. We hiked about 25 minutes uphill with a group of
tourists until we came to the center of the volcano. There was no lava flow,
but I picked up some volcanic rocks for my collection. After touring around the
Caldera, the ship took us to some hot springs. We jumped off of the ship into
the extremely salty but blue waters and swam to the springs. As we swam closer
the water got warmer and more orange. This is due to the sulfur. We played
around for a bit and got back on the boat that took us back to Fira where we
rode donkeys all the way up the hill. This experience was hilarious and I would
definitely do it again. We had absolutely no control over these animals which
is what made the experience so funny. The donkeys kept running into walls and
other donkeys. We took lots of pictures and videos of this epic ride. Once at
the top the group had an hour of free time. I spent this time getting fig ice
cream and laying out in the picturesque area of Fira. From Fira we drove to Oia
pronounced Eea which is where the post card pictures of Greece are taken; the
ones with the white buildings and pools all along the cliff side. While there
we explored and even found the house where “The Sisterhood of the Traveling
Pants” is filmed, and watched a scene of a Chinese movie being filmed. We drew
and watched the sunset from this beautiful plateau area. After the sun set we
went to a beautiful restaurant overlooking the water which was speckled with
islands. I had the most amazing salmon there, and by the end of dinner I looked
up and the stars had begun to appear. Everything about this day from the food
to the adventures was wonderful. I get to cross a lot off of my bucket list
today!
