Today was another amazing
day. We drove 25 minutes to a site called Miletus. Like Priene, it is an
ancient Greek civilization beginning in around 4th century B.C. It
too had harbors as the water level was once much higher, but not it is an
inland site. There was a lot more to explore in Miletus as it is over two times
the size of Priene. After exploring the theater, tunnels, and the surplus of
ancient ruins, I sat inside one of the ruins and painted the backside of the
theater. The theater was huge and could seat 25,000 people.
Because everything is so hands on, I am truly loving
history. These past two weeks I have been exploring and standing on ruins that
are over 2,500 years old. To me this is mind blowing and it makes history so
real and relatable. I never thought I would enjoy history this much. After
finishing my painting I explored some more, and then we hopped on the
bus back to our hotel. A few of us did fifteen minute abs and laid out by the
pool. At 6:00 we all met up and drove about 40 minutes to a beach on the Aegean
Sea. I ran in and kept running as the sea stays shallow very far out. I took my
go pro out and got some fun videos of Dallen, Alaina, Casey and I chicken
fighting as the small waves passed through us. We could not stop laughing and
smiling. After a while we swam to shore and joined our fellow class mates in a game of soccer. I scored two goals for my team, but got an elbow to the nose. It hurt, but I was mostly laughing with watery eyes. Soon after we changed and drove about a mile down the street to have a chicken or fish dinner. I wanted to experience the Aegean Sea so I ordered the fish. It was very yummy, but not my favorite meal. Sitting next to me was Molly who even ate the fish eyeball. I was not that brave. From playing games to telling stories, we all shared a lot of laughs at dinner (the usual). This group is very smiley, uplifting, and I am so grateful to be apart of the joy. Good nighty.
