Today we went to a site called Didyma. It had many columns and was a lot like the last two sites we went to. We received another lesson on painting from Dan. I found a seat inside of a column to sit and paint in. When I am comfortable I found out that I draw and paint better. My little seat was perfect and for the most part I like my painting that I created.
After a few hours of art we went to this public beach. It reminds me of a salty version of Mission Viejo Lake because there were no waves but lots of sand and people. There were a few boats passing by and near where we were was a jet ski. It reminded me of how wonderful my summer was, and how much I miss jet skiing in the harbor. A lot of little things about this place remind me of home. For example, there is an island out in the distance that looks like Catalina Island. Also, a lot of the men here play the game rummy cubes, which has become a traditional game in my family. It reminded me that grandpa is still here and looking out for me. Just these little things make me smile and realize that home is all around me.
After the beach we drove back and had dinner overlooking the valley. It was a beautiful sight. The food was the usual bread, salad, and meat, but the best part was the end. We ate fresh figs. This too reminded me of picking and eating figs at Aunt Debbie's house. I ate so many, and took the ones that others didn't eat back to the hotel. I will probably get more from the vendors on street within the next few days. Right now it is 10:30 and it just began raining for the first time. I am outside on this porch area near the pool writing in my blog while Thanda is writing in her sketchbook and a few others are working on some things. Izette, our bus driver, is walking a show in Turkish. I have no idea what is going on, but it sounds dramatic.
In one week we go to Greece! I am very excited to not have to wear pants and cover up so much when it is burning hot outside. There is so much to look forward to. I miss you all.
