Today
we drove a half an hour away to Mycenae Cite. This cite was really cool and had
an underground cistern which you could walk down into if you have a flashlight.
While there we explored the cistern, hiked around, and I drew the lion’s gate.
Before
we had entered into the cite, a man approached us about doing a pottery class
so after the cite we went to his studio. He showed us all of his amazing
artwork. He does a lot of art using junkyard items. He built the entire Trojan
horse out of recycled cars and various other materials. One of my favorite
things he makes is a table using an old door and puts glass on top of it. It is
a very simple, yet amazing do it yourself project. He is also an amazing marble
sculptor. They showed us how they sculpted and painted pottery and taught us
how to make our own cups. We all had a great time and it felt good to take a
break from drawing.
We
drove back to the hotel and went on date night. Emily and I went out to the
town square area and while there we listened to a band playing songs while we
ate. We had omelets and shared an amazing dessert. It was a waffle covered in
nutella, bananas, chocolate ice cream, and whip cream. It was amazing. Feeling
stuffed we walked a bit and ran into four other people from our abroad. We went
into a few shops and while in a jewelry store we met 3 other students from
America who are studying in Athens. We told them we will be visiting there in a
few days, so they took down our names and are going to recommend some cool
places for us to visit. One of the guys was from Northern California. Small
world.
