October 28
Today Jessica and I went on a run and while
finishing up our 3 miles, we heard a band playing, which reminded us that it was
Oxi Day. This is the day that Greece said “No” or “Oxi” to Mussolini who wanted
their land during WW2. This is a very momentous day in Greek history. After
breakfast the whole group got together and watched the Oxi Day parade which
consisted of students, military, retired military, and the band. Afterwards we
hiked up Palamidi Castle, which is 999 steps plus more hiking if you want to go
up to the tip top. I got to explore a lot here. We went through various caves
and passageways, which we think may have been escape routes. I loved exploring
and I found a cool place to draw, which overlooked the water, harbor, and parts
of the castle.
We had dinner at a yummy Italian place followed by
frozen yogurt from “Chill Box”.
